Directions

To reach the VTCRC from Interstate 81 (southbound and northbound):

Take Exit 118B onto US-460 West. Follow the signs for Blacksburg/Virginia Tech. The US-460 bypass is a limited-access highway from I-81 to Virginia Tech. 

Watch signs carefully for routes and directions. Stay on US-460 West, toward Virginia Tech/Bluefield for 8.6 mi. to the traffic light at VA 314, (Southgate Drive). Turn right onto Southgate Drive. Proceed for .8 mi. on Southgate Drive. Turn right onto Research Center Drive. Proceed .9 mi. on Research Center Drive and enter the park.

Directions to the VTCRC Administration Office: Turn right onto Pratt Drive from Research Center Drive. The Administration Office is located in Suite 1000 of 1715 Pratt Drive at the corner of Research Center Drive and Pratt Drive.

Alternate Route:

Take Exit 118B onto US-460 West for 5.3 mi. Take exit 5A to US-460 BUS E/Industrial Park Road, Turn Left onto Industrial Park Road at stop sign. Drive for .3 mi. through the first stoplight, Industrial Park Road turns right and becomes Research Center Drive at second stop light on Industrial Park Road. After turning right onto Research Center Drive, the Corporate Research Center will be located on the left.

Directions to the VTCRC Administration Office: Continue on Research Center Drive .5 mi. to Pratt Drive on left. The Administration Office is located in Suite 1000 of 1715 Pratt Drive at the corner of Research Center Drive and Pratt Drive.

  • Amtrak: Amtrak offers daily round-trip service to Lynchburg, VA, as well as hourly morning service from Richmond, VA. These two services make it easy to travel from central Virginia to anywhere in the Northeast Corridor. Train from Washington D.C. to Lynchburg, then bus from Lynchburg to Blacksburg. More expensive and time consuming than taking the Megabus. Example: One way ticket from Washington, D.C. to Lynchburg, VA is approximately $70.   • Roanoke Blacksburg Regional Airport: offers more than 50 scheduled flights daily, providing nonstop service from Roanoke, Virginia to nine major cities. The major airlines that fly out of Roanoke Regional Airport daily include US Airways, United Airlines and Delta. How do you get to the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center?

  1. 15 minute frequency until 6:30 p.m., 30 minute frequency until the end of service. No weekend service.
  2. The CRC Shuttle provides service between the VT Drillfield and the VT Corporate Research Center.
  3. A demand response type service will be available on non-game day Saturdays to and from the VTCRC. Trips must be scheduled in advance by calling 540-443-7100, ext. 2722. 

Route Information:  Service begins at the Campbell Court Transportation Center in Downtown Roanoke with scheduled stops at:

Free Parking

…is available to residents of Montgomery County who wish to catch the Smart Way bus at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center. The VTCRC invites the public to park at 1715 Pratt Drive parking lots, so as to easily access the Smart Way Commuter Bus.

…is available to residents of Roanoke at the Gainsboro Garage. You must obtain a “Parking Transfer” for this location by asking your Smart Way Bus driver when you board the bus.

…is available for all commuters at the state owned Park & Ride lots at I-81 exit 140 and exit 118-A.

Free ride to The Inn at Virginia Tech - This is available to guests who contact the Inn in advance.
