Become a Tenant: Business Assistance Program

The Virginia Tech Business Technology Center (BTC) is housed at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (CRC); and has assisted many CRC companies in the development of their marketing plans and business strategies.  The BTC provides free initial reviews of business concepts and needs; and can help in an initial assessment of a business’ intellectual property.

The BTC also provides the following in-depth business support services to CRC companies:

Market research to provide the data needed by companies to make intelligent decisions
Marketing opportunity assessments that quantify a business' market opportunities
Competitive analysis to understand the competitive environment for a business
Market strategy development, as required, either internally or externally
Spreadsheet models for financial projections

BTC studies are directed and managed by its Director, Dr. Dick Daugherty; and Virginia Tech students are employed to assist in the data gathering and assessment activities.  Dick has spent over 25 years in new business and new product development activities; and has managed several corporate ventures.

The BTC receives funding from the CRC, Virginia Tech colleges and offices, and local government groups that help support its activities.  As a result, BTC projects provide excellent value to clients.

To arrange a meeting with Dick to discuss your business and its needs, please call 540-443-9290 or email .

Costs: Tenants pay a percentage of total project costs.
