Tenants in the CRC are able to obtain
business assistance from the Business
/ Technology Center (BTC). The BTC, founded by the CRC, has
assisted in creating or retaining nearly 600 jobs and helped to
create 50 new companies. The purpose of the BTC is to serve as an
educational and research resource for small high-tech companies.
Virginia Tech faculty and student interns are often used to provide
counseling services. When special requirements arise, the BTC hires
outside consultants with subject matter expertise. Areas of assistance
provided by the BTC include:
|
| |
Business plan and proposal development |
| |
Accounting and record keeping |
| |
Business startup procedures |
| |
Finding sources of capital |
| |
Marketing and sales |
| |
Financial analysis |
| |
Patent searches |
| |
Legal issues
|
The BTC subsidizes
the cost of the services that it provides based on the maturity
of the company. The BTC gives schedule priority to the CRC tenants.
CRC tenants are also eligible for a greater subsidy of project
costs
by the BTC. Please contact Dr.
Dick Daugherty to
obtain additional information.
