Job Description

WideOpen Networks has an open position for a network technician in our Network Operations Center (NOC) environment in Blacksburg, Virginia.  WideOpen provides professional network operations and management for modern broadband networks in Virginia, New Hampshire, and Montana.

Provided telephone technical support to customers and partners 
Review, route, and process service tickets
Maintain spreadsheets and databases of network equipment
Add/change/delete customers connected to the networks
Review trouble tickets and route to senior staff as needed
Maintain network information such as maintenance records, leases, site information, and access information.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, or other recurring reports. Prepare incident reports and other one-time reports.
Document network information.
Other duties as assigned.


Network training and/or experience required (Layer 2/3 concepts, device configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, etc.).
Work with customers requires excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written.
Must be skilled in organizing work tasks and establishing priorities.
Responsibilities will require occasional evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.


Working conditions are normal for an office environment.  May require occasional travel with personal vehicle.


This is a full time forty hour per week job. Office hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.  Employee will be required to rotate into an on-call rotation including monitoring text alerts and taking phone calls on nights and weekends (typically one week per month, averaging less than four hours).
