Introduction to TechOpp Consulting

We are a rapidly growing business development consulting company. Our core mission is to help our clients secure funding to develop game-changing technologies and to transition those technologies to new products in both domestic and international markets. Our clients are developing the next generation of technologies that will be used by the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, NASA and the consumer market.

 

Scope of Position and Day-to-Day Responsibilities

The Technology Transition Project Manager (TTPM) will manage technology transition projects with the goal of enabling our clients to secure new R&D funding and to transition new technologies to commercial products. The TTPM will work with our clients to identify high-impact applications in U.S. and international markets and develop a strategy to penetrate those markets. The TTPM will then lead the execution of that strategy by implementing our proven process for new technology insertion. The TTPM will also identify and pursue Federal funding opportunities for our clients to enable more advanced R&D.

In-depth knowledge of specific technical sectors is not required. However, a technical background, and creative approach, that enables the TTPM to match new technologies to relevant applications is critical.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage all aspects of technology transfer projects including budget, schedule, performance, etc.
  • Collaborate with clients to determine specific needs and gain an understanding of their technologies
  • Research specific markets to determine entry points for selected technologies
  • Develop and build relationships with principals within selected target markets
  • Analyze competing technologies to determine market niche
  • Discover funding opportunities for client technologies
  • Maintain superior client satisfaction
  • Assist with developing and launching new marketing / business development campaigns

  • Compensation: Compensation will be dependent on the candidate’s skills and experience.

Requirements

General

  • Required Education: B.S. or M.S. degree in a relevant technical or business-related field
  • Experience: 0-5 years; Internship experience is highly desirable
  • Citizenship: Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • GPA: 3.0 minimum

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient with MS Office, esp. Word and Excel

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in marketing or business development in a technical field
  • Knowledge of and experience using on-line databases related to market research, federal funding, technology competition, professional contact information, etc.
  • Experience with proposal writing

Soft Skills:

  • Highly motivated, self-starter, positive, “can-do” attitude
