The Role

We are looking for an outstanding Quality Engineer to join our growing US  team.

Reporting to the company’s Senior Vice President of D3O US, LLC, the candidate will support US production operations, responsible for delivery of compliance against quality standards within a globally outsourced supply chain.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting different functions including Quality/Product Development/Operations/Sales, ensuring that everyone is working towards the common goal. To achieve this, the person appointed will require both flexibility and experience, with a proactive approach when dealing with different departments and department heads.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead the US quality function by assisting with US production operations to ensure product quality standards are maintained, refined, and improved as necessary.

- Monitor and improve performance by proactively gathering relevant data and producing and analysing statistical reports to enhance the environment of continuous improvement.
- Process and operational improvements to reduce cost of unit production and reject reductions
- Work closely with the UK Global Head of Quality to ensure US processes and program priorities are well-aligned, offering support where needed.
- Meet customers when required to support Sales team in production technical discussions.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills when dealing with different departments.
- Provide effective support with suppliers and customers on product quality issues
- Ensure adherence to Process Control Plans to meet Customer Quality Specifications
- Use Six Sigma tools to improve key quality performance metrics.
- Knowledgeable of Quality requirements and work to ISO 9001 and customer specific standards
- Assist with screening and qualification of new production locations
- Focus on maintaining production throughput to enable sales revenue delivery, demonstrating pragmatism, versatility and enthusiastic “all hands-on deck” attitude as required

 

Necessary Qualities/Experience

- Minimum of 3 years working in a quality engineering role.
- Willingness to travel extensively to production locations as required to troubleshoot production processes and audit / ensure compliance with our production requirements Engineering degree, or prior manufacturing practise within a similar role
- Strong working knowledge of statistical techniques such as Statistical Process Control, process capability analysis, Six Sigma
- A strong and confident personality.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience with vendor site audit procedures and vendor scorecard / continuous improvement processes
- Able to comfortably continue to follow projects through outside the technical /Quality scope.
- A team player able to communicate on all levels across different business functions.
- Willing to travel occasionally to the UK / China for training and occasional Quality Team functions

 

Preferred Experience

- The ability to act as the champion of Quality to both internal and external clients
- Understanding of APQP, FMEA, control plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, and 8D
- Bachelor of Engineering degree
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a high attention to detail
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- Member of ASQ, ideally ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
- A good basic understanding of polymer materials including polyurethane, TPU, TPR, thermoplastics
