Overview & Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:  Responsible for the architectural design and development of hardware, software, and the networking systems.  Provides an architectural framework for system development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts.  Implements standards and guidelines.  Analyzes systems and performance usability testing to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability, and meet security requirements.  Keeps informed of emerging technologies.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:  Excellent knowledge of MIS objectives and strategies.  Excellent technical knowledge in technology methodologies, design, and implementation.  Excellent analytical and design skills at multi-product/multi-environment level.  Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  Able to resolve problems in a timely manner.  General knowledge of Sharepoint, Windows Virtualization, Backups, Caching, CDN, Certifications, Cluster Management, Exchange, FW, HTML, OS/DISTR, OSPF/IOS, Role Servers, RS Knowledge, SMTP/Mail Relays, SQL query writing/troubleshooting, SSL Certs, Sys Design, Web servers, Windows Shell Scripting required.  Advanced knowledge of Advanced scripting language, Auth/ Directory services, DBA, HA, Networking, Packet analysis, Security, Storage, System Optimization, Patching, and FTP required.  Expert knowledge of Web Scripting, Hardware, Load balancing, Performance Monitoring, and RAID required.  Dedicated system owner of one infrastructure system.

JOB COMPLEXITY:  Responsible for complex architectural design and development of hardware, software, and networking systems.  Analyzes systems and determines business requirements.  Ensures completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance.  Requires leading-edge skills in the latest areas of new technology.
SUPERVISION: Operates under minimal supervision.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:  High school diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor's degree in Business or Computer Science.  Usually requires 6+ years of information systems architecture and/or project management experience with a minimum of 3-4 years working in the Rackspace environment or equivalent FANATICAL customer support work place. 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  General office environment.  Considerable stress may occur at times.  Some lifting up to 20 pounds required.
