You only get one chance to make a first impression. We’ve all heard about elevator pitches, but many of us are not prepared to use them effectively. Jim will share his experience with crafting memorable and effective elevator pitches, for both businesses and individuals.

Jim Flowers is a veteran of over four decades of service as a senior executive and consultant to technology based startups, most recently as architect and Executive Director of the VT KnowledgeWorks entrepreneurship support program at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Under Jim’s leadership, VT KnowledgeWorks established itself as Virginia’s institutional leader in programs to support creative entrepreneurship as a driver of economic development. It is also well known for creating innovative outreach programs such as the Global Partnership Week which attracts students and faculty from all over the world each August.Fun & Profit

In 2017, Jim published his second book for prospective entrepreneurs of all ages and in all potential businesses. Fun & Profit – Simple Rules for Startup Success is available on Amazon.com.

Jim has served on the boards of the Virginia Community Economic Network, the Roanoke- Blacksburg Technology Council, and of the Virginia Business Incubation Association, including three years as its President. Jim was honored as the Virginia TradePort Innovator of the Year in 2012, and the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce Small Business Advocate of the year in 2015. He received his BA from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT and his MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Rochester, in Rochester NY.
