The Biotech/Biopharma Apprentice and Co-op Position:

Landos Biopharma Inc. is looking for highly motivated students to participate in an industry research apprenticeship and co-op program. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in common laboratory practices, skills, and techniques to support preclinical, translational and clinical studies. The apprenticeship and co-op program is designed to introduce the apprentice to the fast-paced, results-driven biotech environment. Research projects will cover the drug development process at multiple levels from the identification of novel therapeutic targets to the discovery of new lead compounds and the validation of preclinical efficacy.


Laboratory Procedures : Perform various standard experimental assays including quantitative real-time PCR, Western blot, flow cytometry, and ELISA. Work in sterile conditions to conduct cell culture experiments and maintain the growth of cell lines. Express and purify recombinant protein. Collect and analyze generated data.

Laboratory Maintenance: Assist in organization and upkeep of laboratory supplies, workspace, and equipment in line with standard dictated by the LM and Landos leadership. Sterilization of supplies and waste by autoclave. Develop standard operating procedures.

Animal Procedures : Conduct various IACUC approved laboratory animal procedures and techniques for Landos projects including but not limited to basic rodent handling, oral gavage, intraperitoneal injection, blood collection, and euthanasia.

Regulatory compliance : Support regulatory compliance efforts as instructed by the senior leadership in accordance with IACUC, IBC, and IRB protocols.

Genotyping : Aid in the genotyping process including tag & snip, PCR, gel electrophoresis, documentation of genotypes and mouse strain/genotype histories.

Teamwork : Work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment. Be able to successfully work with other Landos team members in experiments and laboratory upkeep.

Communication and reporting : Keep detailed records of all activities, record these activities in ASANA, Google Drive, laboratory notebook, the Landos Colony Management System (CMS), and Labkey. Provide weekly and bi-weekly updates of the Landos research progress to the Lab Manager, Scientific Director, and Landos team.

Any new responsibilities or reporting structure changes as directed by the Landos leadership.
