VCOM Holds Graduation

6/11/2010

VCOM’s Commencement was held in Burruss Hall on the campus of Virginia Tech on May 29, 2010. The Commencement speaker was Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, who provided inspiring words to the new graduates as they enter the medical profession as physicians in the new era of healthcare reform.

Greetings from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) were provided by Barbara Walker, D.O., the AOA Campus Representative.

During the Commencement procession, VCOM faculty formed a welcome circle to recognize the graduates as future colleagues and to celebrate their accomplishments. After the conclusion of the ceremony, a receiving line was formed by administration and faculty on the steps of Burruss Hall. The week’s activities included a Dinner, Picnic, and Military Promotion Ceremony. The Dinner was held in VCOM’s newest Building, the “Institute for Biomechanical and Sports Medicine Research,” a 48,000 square foot building housing classroom and research space. The Graduate Picnic was held at the new VCOM amphitheater and 14 graduates were honored at the Military Promotion Ceremony.
