VTCRC highlights:

2017

  • The June 7, 2017 VTCRC golf tournament, sponsored by Enterprise, was the perfect venue for a day of fun and networking at the Pete Dye River Course!  We sold $1,160 from mulligan sales, which went toward the American Heart Association’s HeartChase NRV Run/Walk.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia - Over The Edge is back and they are fundraising to send five VTCRC Big Brothers and Sisters Over The Edge! This is an event where fundraisers raise $1,000 and rappel 11 stories from the roof of The Patrick Henry in Downtown Roanoke. 2016Brown Edwards

  • Brown Edwards employees volunteered at the Montgomery County Christmas Store the week of December 5, 2016. Thanks for making a difference! {pictured}
  • As last year, on December 13, research park companies, employees and affiliate members again opened up their hearts and purchased 150 gifts for children in need for the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. The research park and its tenants are trAngel tree 2016uly making a difference! {pictured}
  • Thanks to Brown Edwards for supporting the community through their pay $5 to wear jeans each Friday for staff! They have used those monies collected to support many organizations such as the Montgomery County Christmas Store, Interfaith Food Pantry and Angel Tree 2016more!
  • The research park sold mulligans at our annual golf tournament and received additional donations at our Chili Cook-off that totaled $1,612 which benefited the American Heart Association and HeartChase.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) provides one-to-one mentoring services to children facing adversity in the community. BBBS and the VTCRC have partnered up to launch a mentoring program that started August 2016.

2015

  • In December research park companies, employees and affiliate members purchased over 150 gifts for children in need for the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. {Photos: Brown Edwards and Enterprise Rent-a-car}
  • In July, during our Food Truck Thursday, the research park helped to "stuff the bus" with school supplies for local children with 369 items and $31 donated.
  • In June and September, the research park sold mulligans at our annual golf tournament and received additional donations at our Chili Cook-off that totaled $1,600 which benefited the American Heart Association and HeartChase.

The research park also supports local initiatives that impact the community.

  • Adoption Fur Fest and 5K was held April 2016 at the VTCRC, and promoted pet adoption, health and wellness and raised over $7,000 for the Montgomery County, Virginia Animal Shelter.
  • New River Computing hosted an event to raise money for the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley in August 2015. Jeff Wynn and Matt Stuart grew their hair and cut it off in exchange for donations, which raised over $1,300.
  • The American Heart Association HeartChase, held at the VTCRC, raised over $30,000 in 2015 and over $34,000 in 2016.
