The focus of Smart College Visit, Inc. has always been to help students on their journey to college both in the physical sense, through lodging and travel planning tools, and in terms of navigating the college admissions process. SmartCollegeVisit.com provides a wealth of college planning advice for college-bound teens, their parents and guidance and career counselors. Through their blog, newsletter and social media channels they are able to get relevant and timely information into the hands of those who need it… when they need it.  And, by working directly with colleges, they are able to connect students and colleges through their website and state-of-the art marketing automation services.

In 2010, they started #CampusChat, a weekly, hour-long chat held on Twitter. They are excited to host one of the longest-running higher education social media chats that draws an audience that generates anywhere from 1.5 - 3 million impressions in a single hour. This spring Sallie Mae, the nation’s ‘saving, planning and paying for college’ company, became the first sponsor of #CampusChat.Kelly Queijo

“We're excited to welcome Sallie Mae as an advertiser and work with them to feature their tips and resources through our social media channels and on SmartCollegeVisit.com, “ said Kelly Queijo, Founder and President.

Earlier this year, they launched Smart College Consulting, which allows them to work one-on-one with students and families for personal counsel on all aspects of college planning. They were getting calls from parents seeking advice and help with college planning for their teens and realized there was a need to provide personalized consulting. Jill Wells, who has worked in college admissions for both public and private universities, joined their team as Director of College Consulting. They are kicking off Smart College Consulting by hosting a Spring and Summer College Planning Workshop Series in the Blacksburg area. The first one, College Admission 101, is May 17, 2016. All of the workshops will be held in the Crescent conference room in Building 2000 at the research park. “Smart College Visit spent two years as a virtual resident through VTKnowledgeWorks. This gave me exposure to many of the park's features and amenities, and when I decided it was time to grow, the VTCRC proved to be the best fit for my team and for what we want to accomplish. We can host our workshops here; it's easy for our clients to get to; the park itself is gorgeous; and we can even go to yoga here! It's going to be a great place to grow our business,” said Queijo.
