Job Description

Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center Inc. (VTCRC), a subsidiary of the Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc., is seeking a Global Partnership Program Coordinator. The VT Global Partnership is a joint program between Outreach and International Affairs (OIA) at Virginia Tech, and the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (CRC).  Reporting to the Business Development & Communications Manager of the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, the Global Partnership Program Coordinator will plan and manage all business, administrative, and support services related to maintaining and expanding/improving the annual Virginia Tech Global Student Entrepreneurship Challenge.  This position will be the primary liaison for the program, including frequent contacts with university and CRC management and staff, general public, boards, and government officials to plan and/or coordinate all activities.  Requires occasional travel.

Responsibilities:

Design and manage global partnership events and activities:

  • Program content
  • Recruitment of global partners
  • Calendar management
  • Venue selection
  • Publicity
  • Fiscal management
  • Logistics
  • Partner communications
  • Summer at VT arrangements for international teams

Act as primary VT OIA and VTCRC point of contact for global partnership events and activities:

  • Maintain effective communication with Global Partner universities/regions
  • Maintain effective communication with local and regional supporting organizations
  • Roanoke Blacksburg Technology Council
  • Rotary chapters
  • Chambers of Commerce
  • Economic development agencies

Coordinate and assist VT OIA and VTCRC executives in maintaining current, and obtaining new, sponsors for Global Partnership events and activities, to bring in new sponsorships for the upcoming 2020 VT Global Entrepreneur Partnership event:

  • Plan and execute sponsor recruitment events
  • Make direct follow-up requests for commercial and governmental general sponsorships
  • Cash support
  • In-kind meals, services, and gifts

Manage Global Partnership publicity activities:

  • Websites
  • CRCGlobal
  • Social media
  • Blog
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Local and foreign press coverage

Manage logistics for Global Partnership events and activities including:

  • Student housing
  • Transportation
  • Venues
  • Meals
  • Incidentals

Prepare and maintain a formal “how-to” manual for the entire program to create a firm “corporate memory” that can be used as a guiding reference by various assistants and successor.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or relevant field. A thorough understanding of all program components and the ability to provide high levels of service to varied and diverse stakeholders. The successful candidate must be extremely well-organized and capable of managing multiple priorities and logistics.

  • Experience developing, implementing and managing program budgets, revenues and expenses
  • Demonstrated experience with publicity, websites and social media
  • Relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple and diverse assignments on a routine basis
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
