The Application Analyst plays a crucial role in developing, maintaining, defining, analyzing, planning, and modifying complex applications in a diverse technical environment to ensure accuracy and efficiency. This role is responsible for eliciting functional requirements, interpreting customer business needs, developing technical specifications, and ensuring that information systems meet quality and efficiency standards. Additionally, they are also a technical resource providing expertise, and contributing to the successful implementation, development, and maintenance of administrative or enterprise information systems.

In addition, the Application Analyst will:
• Analyze, develop, document, integrate, maintain, and modify complex information systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements through various techniques such as interviews, requirements workshops, and business process descriptions.
• Create system requirements and technical specifications by interpreting customer business needs.
• Develop comprehensive test plans and review new or modified systems and programs to ensure they meet customer business needs and internal standards.
• Ensure systems and software meet efficiency requirements and adhere to quality assurance standards.
• Analyze and review the technical infrastructure for existing and new enterprise information systems.
• Ensure the effective utilization of vendor systems, technology standards, and local modifications to maintain the viability and sustainability of information systems over time.
• Promote an enterprise-wide view of university systems, addressing usability, availability, scalability, security, integration, and software management standards.
• Act as a technical member on ad hoc teams by providing technical assistance, expertise, and performing assigned tasks and objectives.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure the timely completion of projects.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree or a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to an advanced degree.
• Significant experience in systems analysis, business process analysis, and requirements gathering.
• Significant experience supporting, maintaining, and extending enterprise-level systems and applications.
• Demonstrated experience with object-oriented programming in languages such as Java, Groovy, Python, or PHP.
• Strong understanding of relational database design and SQL.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proficiency in programming using web application frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Grails, or Rails.
• Experience with front-end languages and technologies such as React, JavaScript, DHTML, AJAX, HTML, XHTML, JSON, and XML.
• Experience with business processes and applications supporting Higher Education, specifically Ellucian Banner and its associated applications such as Banner Document Management, Banner Workflow, or Banner General products.
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL development.
• Experience using build and dependency management tools such as Maven, Ant, Ivy, or Gradle.
• Experience with git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Docker.
• Expertise in Test Driven Development and Agile Development.
