Blacksburg Partnership 10 2019
The Blacksburg Partnership is known for three signature events that take place every year: Blacksburg Fork & Cork, Blacksburg Brew Do and the Virginia Cheese Fest.
The Blacksburg Partnership is a non-profit, economic development organization focused on projects that attract visitors and retail prospects. Partnership projects include the development of property, revitalization of retail districts, special events, and community arts endeavors such as Gobble de Art and the Collaborative for the Arts.
As a matter of fact, the 11th annual Blacksburg Brew Do, craft beer festival, will take place on Saturday, October 26th at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center.
The festival welcomes back the best in craft brewers from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond, offering an outstanding selection of ales, lagers, pilsners, stouts, ciders and more. Delicious food, cooking and brewing demonstrations and live entertainment complement a great day of beer tasting. www.blacksburgbrewdo.com
The Blacksburg Partnership focuses on Transportation, Talent Recruitment & Retention and Retail.
“We’re very excited to promote the expansion of passenger rail to the NRV,” said President, Diane Akers.
It’s a regional initative lead by the Blacksburg Partnership and includes 8 local governments, Onward NRV, the Regional Commission and the Montgomery County Chamber. The Partnership has made progress over the years, including showing there’s a market for passenger rail and identifying a location for the train station. Recently, they hosted the 4th Legislative Reception for rail, bringing together Federal, State and local officials as well as the business community.
“We’re also excited about the Young Professionals Initiative,” said Akers.
Blacksburg Young Professionals (YPs) are typically persons in their 20’s and 30’s working, living and playing in Blacksburg. The YP board of directors and their committees organize monthly social networking events, as well as professional development and community service opportunities.
The Blacksburg Partnership is located in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center at 2000 Kraft Drive, Suite 1211.
“We chose the VTCRC because we want to be a part of the exciting things happening with businesses in the park, says Akers. “We enjoy the opportunity to get to know the other tenants and to network with the employees.”
