A huge congratulations to VTCRC community member Virginia Cyber Range as they celebrate 10 years of advancing cybersecurity education across the Commonwealth! Their milestone was highlighted at the ninth annual Virginia Cybersecurity Education Conference in Alexandria.

Part of Virginia Tech’s Division of Information Technology, the Cyber Range has transformed digital instruction by providing scalable, cloud-based learning environments, courseware, and Capture the Flag competitions. Today, the platform supports roughly 11,000 students each academic semester—empowering schools to deliver sophisticated cyber labs without the burden of costly traditional infrastructure.
Conference Highlights & Celebrations
The two-day conference brought together educators, industry leaders, and students to focus on AI, emerging threats, and building a strong cyber workforce:
- Industry Insights: Hart Rossman, VP of Security at AWS, delivered a keynote on integrating security directly into emerging tech workflows.
- Educator Excellence: Mike Onda of Potomac Falls High School received the 2026 Virginia Cybersecurity Educator Award.
- Future Cyber Leaders: Virginia Cyber Signing Day recognized top high school seniors heading into university cyber programs, including incoming Virginia Tech Hokies Jake Goodwin, Pranjali Sanwal, and Samridh Mankala.
We are incredibly proud to have the Virginia Cyber Range as part of our park community. Their incredible decade of growth shows how VTCRC tenants lead the charge in creating vital workforce pipelines and technology solutions across Virginia.
