The Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (VTCRC) is proud to celebrate Chelsea Olivieri, Managing Director of VTCRC Newport News and the Secure Energy Future Center (SEFC) at Tech Center Research Park, for being named Institutional Innovator of the Year at the 2026 Energy Tech conference in Richmond.

The annual Energy Tech conference brings together leaders across the energy ecosystem—including startups, utilities, investors, researchers, and policymakers—to explore emerging technologies and industry trends.
This year’s event welcomed more than 650 attendees, reflecting the rapid growth of the clean energy and advanced energy sector in Virginia.
Chelsea Olivieri was recognized alongside other innovators for her impact at the institutional level—driving collaboration and enabling scalable energy solutions.
