TECH talk: Innovative Design and Development of New UAS Systems and Applications

Join us for a Tech Talk with Dr. Kevin Kochersberger, professor in Virginia Tech’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and director of the Unmanned Systems Lab. Dr. Kochersberger to learn about how cutting-edge uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) are transforming industries and tackling real-world challenges.
About the Speaker
Dr. Kevin Kochersberger is a professor in Virginia Tech’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and leads the Unmanned Systems Lab. His work spans flight, robotics, autonomous systems, and applied aerodynamics. His research includes autonomous aerial systems, aerial sensing and sampling, morphing-wing aircraft, and novel aerial robotic applications. A longtime Virginia Tech faculty member, he has helped move drone technology from the lab into the field, including through Virginia Tech’s work with CIRED (Center for International Research, Education, and Development) and UNICEF to launch the African Drone and Data Academy in Malawi.
Dr. Kochersberger will discuss how uncrewed aircraft developed in the lab are designed, tested, and prepared for deployment in high-stakes environments, with applications from military operations to humanitarian aid that are pushing the limits of innovation.
